At its most basic level, InfraGard is a cooperative undertaking between the U.S. Government (led by the FBI and the NIPC) and an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to increasing the security of United States critical infrastructures. All InfraGard participants are committed to the proposition that a robust exchange of information about threats to and actual attacks on these critical infrastructures is an important element for successful infrastructure protection efforts.Brian Schaeffer has been an active member since 2001, serving under various roles during that time period elected to the Board of Directors as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Philadelphia Regional Computer Intrusion Task Force (PRCITF)The PRCITF is a joint effort between the FBI and Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) charged with the implementation and operations of the Computer Intrusion Threat Assessment System (CITAS). CITAS is an early warning and intrusion detection system that enables law enforcement to be proactive in identifying the persistent cyber threats targeting our national infrastructure.Brian Schaeffer and Bill Toffel have been an active participants since 2008.(Pictured left) Nominated by the FBI, we earned the Philadelphia Federal Executive Board "2010 Excellence in Government" Gold Medal award for Group Private Sector Involvement by volunteering to "provide expert technical assistance to create a fully operational system" in support of the Computer Intrusion Threat Assessment System (CITAS) cyber-defense initiative. |
